Award-winning Yaqui jeweler, artist, and actor, Michael Horse, went through all of the beads he has been saving for decades to make this graceful necklace.  The primary beads are natural red coral followed by various colors of natural stones include Kingman turquoise, sugilite, salmon coral, and opal. The beads end in sterling silver cones, vintage melon beads, and a hook and eye clasp.

Size: 29.5" Long

Award-winning Yaqui jeweler Michael Horse  has done it again!  He set a  natural Bisbee Turquoise weighing 39 carats in a 14kt gold bezel on heavy gage sterling silver.  He textured the silver by pounding it on a river rock from the river he lives near.  Michael inscribed his name inside the bracelet. This is definitely an heirloom piece.

About Bisbee Turquoise: Bisbee turquoise is some of the most highly valued and sought after turquoise in the world and only comes from one place in Arizona. The Bisbee turquoise mine was closed in 1974.

This ledger painting by Michael Horse was inspired by the role of Deputy Hawk, also simply called "The Hawk", played by Michael Horse in the television series Twin Peaks.

In this image, the man is The Hawk in his traditional regalia and the hawk above him is his protector. He is praying and singing to the sacred mountains called Twin Peaks in the state of Washington. Owls are meaningful in the television series, Twin Peaks, and are said to know everything. The smaller log leaning up against the tree, which gave answers to Deputy Hawk, was left there by the Log Lady, an important character in the series. The black lodge above the mountains was a place of medicine, also important in the series. The spaceship above the mountains is keeping an eye on all things Twin Peaks.

Tufa Jewelry: Tufa is a volcanic stone which can be as dense as chalk which has an organic texture. The first thing a jeweler does is examine a piece of tufa for any tiny fractures.  If it looks good, the tufa is cut in half and, if there is a design, it is carved into the tufa.   There is a pour hole carved into the top and several narrow vents carved into each side.  The two pieces are then bound together tightly and molten silver or gold is poured through the hole at the top.  If there are any microscopic cracks, the tufa explodes when the metal is poured in and the process has to begin again.

Award-winning Yaqui artist, Michael Horse, painted "Love is Love" to honor our Two-Spirit relatives. These two women wrapped in blanket which indicates they are either courting or are married. What a wonderful way to play with family and friends while broadening the scope of what gender is!

Two Spirit people are not only accepted in most traditional Indigenous communities, but also honored. In many tribes they have traditionally held places of respect as medicine people, healers, the parents of orphans, diplomats, and more. Two Spirit people are understood to embody both genders which blesses them with a deeper understanding of the human condition.

Coyote Says: Humans, stop breaking the world. Image by award-winning Yaqui artist, Michael Horse. We imagine that if coyotes had something to say to us, this would be one of the important things. Coyotes figure prominently in Native American history. In some tribes, they are powerful creation beings who teach us by doing things that turn out wrong, or even disastrous. Oftentimes, they have a humorous quality. In their natural environment they live in packs, hunt together, and protect one another. Once one hears them yipping at night it is never forgotten.
